In 1907 Miss Edith M. Lewis, Principal of the Wolverhampton School for Cookery in Darlington Street produced her "Cookery Book of Useful Recipes". It was published by Whitehead Brothers and contains 72 recipes in the following sections:
soups, fish, sauces, meat, pastry, puddings and creams, savouries, and cakes etc.

Miss Lewis also lectured on invalid cookery for the Queen Victoria Nursing Institute in Bath Road and the Dudley Guest Hospital.

The page opposite from the book gives some information about the cookery school. By 1914 Miss Lewis was teaching cookery at the Municipal Science and Technical School in Garrick Street.
