Wolf Motorcycles

The following section consists of photographs, and details of motorcycles that were taken from some of the company's catalogues. I have to thank the late Jim Boulton for kindly allowing me to use the material, which is from his collection.

The first part is from the 1915 Wolf catalogue:


The Wolf model A.

The model A was powered by a 2½ to 3 hp., 2-stroke, T.D. Cross & Sons engine. It had an A.M.A.C. carburettor, Pilot spring forks and was available in several different versions. The single gear model had a belt drive and sold for 22 guineas. The 2 speed model was driven by a chain and belt drive, and priced at 28 guineas. It was also available with a kick starter and free engine clutch for 30 guineas.
The model B was powered by a 2¼ hp., 2 -stroke, Peco engine. It had a senspray or A.M.A.C. carburettor and Pilot spring forks. The single gear model had a belt drive and sold for 24 guineas. The 2 speed model was driven by a chain and belt drive, and was priced at 30 guineas. It was also available with a kick starter and free engine clutch for 32 guineas.

The model C was powered by a 2½ hp. JAP engine. It had a senspray or A.M.A.C. carburettor and Pilot spring forks. The single gear model had a belt drive and sold for 26 guineas. The 2 speed model was driven by a chain and belt drive, and was priced at 32 guineas. It was also available with a kick starter and free engine clutch for 34 guineas.
The model D had a  4 hp. JAP engine, a senspray or A.M.A.C. carburettor and Pilot spring forks. The single gear model had a belt drive and sold for 35 guineas. The 2 speed model was driven by a chain and belt drive, and was priced at 45 guineas. There was also a  3 speed model, driven by a chain and belt drive, and priced at 47 guineas.

The 2 speed and 3 speed models were also available with a sidecar. The 2 speed model with sidecar was priced at 56 guineas and the 3 speed model with sidecar sold for 58 guineas.


The Wolf 5 hp.

The 5 hp. model was powered by a 5 hp., twin cylinder JAP engine. It had a senspray or A.M.A.C. carburettor, 3 speed Juckes gearbox, and  a chain and belt drive. The machine was priced at 62 guineas and also available with a sidecar for 75 guineas.
The number 1 lightweight sidecar had a coach built body, Pegamoid upholstery and a spring cushion.

It required at least a 2½ hp. machine and was priced at 11 guineas.

The number 2 sidecar had a 3 ply body on a strong frame. It was upholstered in Crockett's leather and had a roomy locker and map pocket.

It required at least a 4 hp. machine and was priced at 11 guineas.

The number 3 closed sidecar had a double spring chassis, Pegamoid upholstery, two lockers and a map pocket.

It required at least a 5 hp. machine and was priced at 13 guineas.

The next part is from the 1932 Wolf catalogue:

The catalogue cover.
The 'Cub' was powered by a 98 c.c., 2-stroke Villiers engine.

It had an Albion 2 speed gearbox, a chain drive, and also included a toolbox and toolkit.

The machine was priced at £15.5s and was also available with electric lighting for an extra £1.5s.

The Wolf Minor.

The 'Minor' was powered by a 147 c.c., 2-stroke Villiers engine.

It had an Albion 2- speed gearbox, a chain drive, and also included a toolbox and toolkit.

The machine was priced at £17.15s and was also available with electric lighting for an extra £1.5s.

The 'Super Sports' was powered by a 196 c.c., 2-stroke, super sports Villiers engine.

It had an Albion 3 speed gearbox, a chain drive, and also included a toolbag and toolkit.

The machine was priced at £29.10s and was also available with a Miller dynamo for an extra £4.10s.

The Wolf Utility.

The 'Utility' was powered by a 196 c.c., 2-stroke Villiers engine.

It had an Albion 3 speed gearbox, chain drive, and was priced at £24.17s.6d. 

The 'Vixen' was powered by a 148 c.c., long stroke, double port, super sports Villiers engine. It had an Albion 3 speed gearbox, chain drive and was priced at £25.10s.

It was also available with a chrome plated tank for an extra £1.10s.

The next part is from the 1937 Wolf catalogue:


The Wolf Minor.

The 'Minor' was powered by a 147 c.c., 2-stroke, single port Villiers engine.

It had an Albion 2 speed gearbox, chain drive, and Villiers single lever carburettor.

It also had Villiers electric lighting and was priced at £27.10s.

The 'Super Sports' was powered by a 250 c.c., long stroke, double port, super sports Villiers engine.

It had an Albion 3 speed gearbox, Coventry chain drive, and Villiers two lever carburettor.

It also had Villiers electric lighting, full toolkit and was priced at £35.10s.

The 'Unit' was powered by a 125 c.c., 2-stroke, double port, Villiers engine.

It had a Coventry chain drive, and Villiers single lever carburettor.

It also had Villiers electric lighting, full toolkit and was priced at £21.10s.

The 'Vixen' was powered by a 148 c.c., long stroke, double port, super sports Villiers engine.

It had a Burman 3 speed gearbox, Villiers single lever carburettor, Villiers electric lighting and was priced at £25.10s.

It was also available with a chrome plated tank for an extra £3.
