Wolverhampton and
Staffordshire College of Technology, Students' and
Teachers' Union, Rag Day.
The college's annual Rag Day was organised by the
Students' and Teachers' Union Rag Committee to raise
money for local charities and good causes. Events
were held throughout the day, including a parade,
which consisted of decorated lorries travelling
through the town centre and ending at West Park,
where the exhibits were judged. During the parade,
members of the students' and teachers' union walked
around the town centre and alongside the parade to
collect donations from the general public. Copies of
the official magazine were also on sale.
In the evening, a fancy dress ball was held in
the main hall at the college, during which prizes
were handed out for the best exhibits in the parade.
The first Rag Day was held in 1949, during which
£280.9s.5d was raised. By 1964 the total sum raised
was £13,065.12s.10d. |
