The Chubb Building, Railway Street

The Chubb building on the corner of Chubb Street and Railway Street is an attractive Victorian factory, built in 1898-9 as the headquarters of Chubb & Sons Lock and Safe Company Limited. It could accommodate 350 locksmiths, and 350 safe makers.

The lettering on the parapet is all made of ceramics, and so the Grade II listed building is a worthwhile addition to this section.
