Two houses in Merridale Road

These two houses stand next to each other in Merridale Road.  They seem to share a common wall, although clearly built separately.  They have recently been greatly improved and now add a good deal of sparkle to the road.  They must have been built for rich people but, at the moment, we know nothing of their history.  All information would be gratefully received.

This is "Bella Vista".  O.K., so there is no terracotta on this frontage, unless those pediments above the ground floor windows are terracotta.
But the return frontage to the road on the right has an heraldic panel and a very decorative band, all in terracotta.
