ARCHITECTURAL CERAMICS

The Milano, Darlington Street

It is very difficult to tell whether or not there is any terracotta on these buildings for the curious reason that a lot of it has been painted in terracotta coloured paint.  The building on the left (looking somewhat like two buildings) is what used to be called Tenters Buildings (which probably had an apostrophe somewhere, though one doubts if the customers of the succession of night clubs contained in it either knew or cared).  But the building on the right used to contain, in the cellar where The Tomb now is, the Milano coffee bar, a favourite resort of local teenagers in the late 50s or early 60s.  Despite being a rendevous that almost everyone of a certain age can remember, only one photo of its interior is know to exist.  If anyone has got a photo of it, inside or out, would they please let us know?
