Listing: early C19. Included for group value.
Comment: This building is built on to 1 Wellington Road, a
nationally listed building. But what its relationship was with that house
is not known. Anyway, it has recently been done up and is a nice addition
to the streetscape.
There were not always shops here. Patricia Sheldon tells us
that, in the early 20th century, her forebear, William Bowen, who ran a
solicitor's practice in Swan Bank, lived here in what was then simply a
house. (He had moved from another Georgian House on the opposite
side of the road).
