Wolverhampton's Locally Listed Buildings

War Memorial

George Street, Ettingshall

Listing: Locally listed in 2004.Polished brown granite war memorial in simple Celtic cross style.  Inscribed with the names of the fallen.  Unveiled November 1921.

Comment:  There is another war memorial cross in this style in Bradley, thought its setting, on top of a hill, could hardly be more different.  This little park, with a community hall in it, is very near what used to be the centre of Ettingshall village.  That village has nearly lost its own identity, squeezed between Wolverhampton and Bilston.  It greatly needs places such as this.
