Listing: The Harp Inn, Walsall Street. Comment: A
simple but carefully detailed Neo-Georgian side street pub. Two
storeys, in pink-brown brick with some blues. Hipped roof behind a
parapet, which sweeps down to small single storey wings: the only
hint in this design of the architect Butler’s Free Style mannerisms.
The ground floor projects forward between the entrances, with a
row of five round arched windows set in shallow reveals which
continue below, forming recessed panels. It retains much of its
original internal planning and some detail, e.g. the bar front.
