Listing: The Oak & Ivy, Oxford Street, Bilston. Comment:
A modest but good design in a severe Tudor revival, with moderne
touches. It lies in a prominent position at the entrance to Bilston
town centre from the south.
It is faced in dark maroon brick. The ground floor windows have
delicate mullions and transoms resembling the details at The Vine
Inn, Wednesfield (grade II Listed), which have survived the
installation of uPVC lights.
Moderne doorways with wide plain architraves and triple roll
mouldings to the jambs, topped by attached roundels of an oak tree
and ivy. |
