Listing: Locally listed in 2004. Large detached Arts and Crafts
style villa, now a nursing hone with a large extension. Dated 1899.
Corner two storey canted bay with parapet. Pargetting to front gable and
cornice. Terracotta cartouche in left gable. Sash windows with
multi-paned upper leaves to first floor and stained glass upper leaves to ground
floor. Brick doorcase.
Comment: This facade - which is clearly the front - faces on to
West Park, not on to Park Avenue at all. Is it really Arts and Crafts?
Anyway it is big and one of a number of such villas built in this area after
West Park had been opened.
