Wolverhampton's Locally Listed Buildings

The Pyle Cock

Rookery Street, Wednesfield

Listing: Locally listed in 2003.  Built in 1867, possibly on the site of an earlier establishment.  Extended at an unknown date.  The public bar and small smoke room are original to the 1860s build and contain original fittings.  Rare early survivor and sympathetically altered.

Comment:  The local listing of this, and a number of other pubs, resulted from the careful historical researches of Jim Laws of the local CAMRA branch.  The exterior of this pub sparkles and has character.  Wednesfield has little pockets of historic interest and character and this pub makes one of them.
