Listing: The Summerhouse public house, Steelhouse Lane.
Comment: A plain small side street pub with no grand
architectural features. All the windows have recently been replaced
with uPVC.
It was built, unusually, for a small local brewery, rather than a
large firm such as Wolverhampton and Dudley or W. Butler & Co.
It is also a rare surviving pub by a significant Wolverhampton
architect (F. T. Beck), and an asset in an area of otherwise poor
townscape quality. |
