Listing: pair of houses. c.1840
Awards: Wolverhampton Environmental Awards, 2000,
prox.acc.
Comment: this pair, still looking neatly Regency, was built before
West Park (nearby) was thought of. It would have been within easy walking
distance of the town centre and in the fashionable Tettenhall direction. But
it would also have been near the race course, which might have attracted
some and have been seen as undesirable by others. Similarly, these days it
might be thought to be too near the brewery - or not, depending on your
interests.
The Environmental Award was for restoration and extension work, for which
the architect was Eric Hudson, who also did the Snow
Hill scheme.
