Comment: These two buildings are lumped together
here, though separately listed, because their great merit is that they
are an object lesson in what not to do with historic buildings.
The treatment of the ground floors is horrifying. All the worst
things were done years ago, when attitudes were different. It is
some consolation to think that this would never happen to-day - surely
it wouldn't?
