Listing: House. Late C17 with later
alterations. Plastered brick with applied timber framing. ...
Interior: ... chamfered beams and exposed joists ... timber framed cross
wall with wind braces ... timber framed gable....
Comment: Situated in a short cul de sac, it
is opposite the more obvious looking timber framed building. But
that building, on closer inspection, seems to be made up from old
timbers in modern times. This is the genuine article and there
seems no reason to doubt the date brick (just visible in the photo
between the two left hand windows) which gives a date of 1671. But
what seems to be the timber framing, obviously is not - it is thin
timbers stuck on. But one gathers from the listing that the house
is timber framed but brick cased.
