The Star and Garter Hotel
The Star and Garter Hotel, Victoria Street.
This rather scratchy picture is taken from an advertising booklet
"The Star and Garter Royal Hotel", produced by the hotel in the 1920s
(or possibly 1930s). The booklet contains several pictures of the
interior and an essay "The Old Star and Garter Inn: its Historical
Associations". This building replaced the earlier half-timbered
building, which had started off life as a private dwelling house and was
still one when Charles II stayed there. It became one of the most famous
coaching inns of Wolverhampton.
