We live in a rapidly changing world,
which is already very different to how it was at the start
of the century. We are only into the first quarter of the
century, yet many parts of the Black Country have greatly
changed, some almost beyond recognition.
Old photographs provide a wonderful way
to look back in time and remember how things were, or
discover how they used to be. What follows is a selection of
photographs taken between 2000 and 2006 that show areas
where change has taken place. Town and city centres are
rapidly changing due to people's modern shopping habits and
the need for more accommodation, thanks to the increasing
population.
The photographs cover only a small part
of the Black Country, but do reflect the universal changes
that have led to the modern landscape.
