Throughout the 1950s and 1960s expert photographer and railway enthusiast, the late Lionel J. Lee toured the country, photographing the changing railway scene, at a time when steam was giving-way to diesel and electric traction.

His lovely photographs from half a century ago, will recapture memories for older people, and introduce younger people to rail travel in the days of steam.

I have to thank Lionel's widow for allowing me to copy some of his many 35 mm negatives.
