Introduction
Voilet Ruth Collins (née Harley),
was born at 25 Bright Street on 30th April 1906. The
following is a transcript of an interview with Violet,
conducted by her nephew Robert Harley in December 1988.
Her parents were Herbert and Annie
Harley. She had a younger brother, John, and a younger
sister, Dorothy. Until 1962 she lived with her husband,
John Collins, at 24 Merridale Road, before moving to
Bognor Regis. Violet died at the age of 94 in September
2000, whilst living in sheltered accommodation in
Heathfield, East Sussex.
We must thank Robert Harley for
allowing us to include this copy of his interview. The
interview is complete, except for descriptions of other
parts of the country where she also lived.
